The School Administrator Magazine
This monthly association magazine for U.S. public school superintendents was a both a challenge and a joy. For each month’s issue, I contracted a professional illustrator and worked with them to create conceptual art for what was, at times, some fairly dry material. Over eight years I worked with dozens of illustrators and am proud of the concepts and designs that came out of that time.
My favorite design is for the feature “Renewing the Civic Mission of Schools,” where I came up with the concept of posing school-age kids in an homage to the Iwo Jima memorial. The illustration is by Ralph Butler, also one of my favorite illustrators to work with.
